ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Elise began her career as a Botanical Officer at the Botanical Research Institute in Pretoria, serving from 1962 to 1964.
From 1969 to 1981, she worked as a botanist at the Lowveld National Botanical Garden. Elise made significant contributions to plant research and conservation.
Following this, she represented South Africa for 21 years at the technical meetings of the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV).
During her tenure, she served as Chairperson and was honored with both bronze and silver medals in recognition of her outstanding achievements.
